Welcome to Luna Mesa Day Spa Inc., founded in 1996
by Luanne Sauer as Massage Works. The name Luna Mesa meaning, "plateau of
the Moon" was derived from a Latin ancestor of the name Luanne combined with
the word Mesa. This inspiration came from a personal visit to the third Mesa where
the Hopi Indians live, in Arizona. The sense of peace, healing and well being
Luanne experienced in Arizona is what she tries to recreate for her clientele
here on Long Island.
The original location of the spa is in the Monarch
Center on Montauk Highway in Moriches. It grew from a two-room massage practice
to the facility that exist today - 4 massage rooms, 3 skin care rooms, 9 nail
stations placed in a spacious nail pavillion, and a wet room with a shower, now
almost 3,000 square feet. After considerable growth and ongoing excellent publicity,
Luna Mesa expanded to include a second location on the North East End of Long
Island. The Aquebogue store opened in December of 2001. This beautiful, tranquil
spa has 3 massage rooms, 2 skin-care rooms, 2 nail rooms and 1 wet room with a
Swiss shower. The Aquebogue location is now owned and operated by Donna McCarthy,
who was an employee of the spa and maintains the excellent standards of Luna Mesa
in the north fork location.
Both spas have been well received by a rapidly
growing client base, by the press and by recognized industry organizations. Our
Moriches spa recently received a gold star from Spa Wish through their selective
evaluation process for the year 2003. Luna Mesa Inc. is an active member of the
Day Spa Association, a Platinum member of the International Dermal Institute,
the AMTA, and a member of the International Spa Association.
We attribute
our ongoing success to a commitment to serving the specific needs of the clients
we treat. Whether they need us to listen, to care, to advise or to comfort, we
strive to offer balance and education to our clients. We enjoy the pleasure of
a highly trained, licensed staff of therapists and technicians. We strongly encourage
all of our employees to attend trainings in new products and services. This allows
us to continually improve upon our spa menu and offer interesting, valid services.
We are committed to avoiding services we do not believe in. New services only
get added to our menu if proven effective.
We do a variety of different
types of massage. From basic relaxing Swedish massage, energetic AMMA, massage
for pregnant women to hot stone massage. As for our skin care - we strongly support
the Dermalogica line. We believe in the quality and purity of this product line.
Aside from the variety of skin specific facials using these products, we also
offer oxygen facials, glycolic facials, alpha hydroxy facials, vitamin facials,
collagen facials, and four layer seaweed facials. We do all kinds of waxing. We
have several reflexologists on staff, that are highly trained. We also offer many
types of body wraps and scrubs for all types of body care. We primarily perform
natural nail services to remain consistent with our philosophy of wellness and
balance.
